Picking a Charity: A Very Important Descision

Picking a Charity

I think that one of the most important decisions for Helping hand Games is which charity to sponsor. Picking a charity is no small task. There are so many different types of charities, some provide food, others clean water, mosquito nets, medical attention, aid to the environment, aid to animals, the list goes on. It was pretty easy for me to decide. I want to support an area of charity that helps those most in need, a charity that helps people learn how to free themselves from poverty, and a charity that not only has people bodily well-being in mind but also their soul.

This brought me to charities classified as international development and relief services. I searched through quite a few and picked four of the top charities to evaluate. They are Compassion International, World Vision, Feed the Children, and Samaritan’s Purse. I evaluated each charity based on its mission, Charity Navigator score, the percentage of its revenue it put towards charitable programs each year, it’s total revenue and its social media presence. Charity Navigator is a great site to aid in picking a charity. I used it, the charity’s web site and social media pages to perform each review.
